Wheel of the Year & Seasonal Practice

This section is devoted to time, cycles, and seasonal relationship—the turning of the Wheel and how we move with it.

The Wheel of the Year is not just a ritual calendar.
It’s a way of noticing where we are, what’s being asked of us, and what needs tending—or releasing—right now.

These books support my understanding of:

  • sabbats and seasonal markers

  • myth, folklore, and cultural context

  • modern adaptations of ancient rhythms

  • living cyclically instead of linearly

Some of these texts are practical.
Some are reflective.
Some are best used as companions rather than instructions.

All of them help keep my practice in relationship with time.

How I Use Seasonal Practice Texts

Books in this section tend to answer questions like:

  • What is this season inviting me into?

  • How do I honor a sabbat without recreating someone else’s ritual?

  • What historical or mythic themes are present here?

  • How can I speak about the Wheel in a way that’s accessible and inclusive?

These are the books I reach for when:

  • planning sabbat rituals

  • preparing livestreams or seasonal teachings

  • grounding celebrations in meaning rather than performance

  • reconnecting with cyclical awareness during burnout or transition

Seasonal practice isn’t about doing more.
It’s about listening better.

A Note on Tradition & Adaptation

Seasonal practice is not about perfect reenactment.

Many traditions represented here are:

  • reconstructed

  • modernized

  • or adapted for contemporary life

That doesn’t make them invalid—but it does make discernment essential.

I use these books as conversation partners, not rulebooks.
They inform my practice without dictating it.

Your Wheel may not look like mine—and that’s exactly as it should be.
