Spellcraft, Ritual & Practical Magic

This section focuses on the nuts and bolts of magical practice—how spells are built, how rituals are structured, and how intention becomes action.

While my personal practice is intuitive and relational, I believe strongly in understanding technique. Structure doesn’t limit magic; it gives you something to push against, refine, or consciously discard.

These books taught me:

  • how spells are constructed

  • how tools are created and used

  • how ritual creates container and clarity

  • how to work intentionally instead of reactively

Some of these texts lean ceremonial.
Some are folk-based.
Some bridge the two.

All of them contribute to magical literacy.

How I Use Spellcraft & Ritual Texts

Books in this section tend to answer questions like:

  • How do I build a spell from scratch?

  • What role do tools, symbols, and timing play?

  • How can I adapt structure without losing integrity?

  • What’s the difference between folk magic and ceremonial magic—and where do I sit?

These are the books I reach for when:

  • designing ritual or spellwork

  • teaching foundational mechanics

  • refining intention and focus

  • returning to basics when magic feels scattered

They remind me that intuition is strongest when it’s supported by understanding.

Spellcraft, Ritual & Practical Magic (From My Library)

Candle Magic & Focused Spellwork

Candle Magic & Focused Spellwork

Candle Magic & Focused Spellwork

  • Practical Candleburning Rituals
One of the earliest accessible guides to modern candle magic. While more ceremonial than my usual practice, this is a book I return to often for clarity and focus.

  • Advanced Candle Magick
A follow-up that emphasizes creating original spells and understanding symbolic structure rather than memorization.

  •  Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft

Tool Creation & Hands-On Craft

Candle Magic & Focused Spellwork

Candle Magic & Focused Spellwork

  • Spell Crafts
A practical guide to making your own magical tools with intention and purpose, rather than relying solely on pre-made items.

  • The Magical Household
Demonstrates how magic can be woven into everyday domestic life through folklore, herbalism, and practical ritual.
  •  Nocturnal Witchcraft

Structured & Group-Oriented Spellwork

Practical & Elemental Spell Foundations

Practical & Elemental Spell Foundations

 Spellworking for Covens
Included with context and discernment. While I don’t often rely on this book now, it offers insight into group spell dynamics and serves as a reference point for understanding coven-based work.

Practical & Elemental Spell Foundations

Practical & Elemental Spell Foundations

Practical & Elemental Spell Foundations

  • Earth Power
Emphasizes practical magic rooted in the elements, intuition, and experimentation.

  • Earth, Air, Fire & Water
Expands elemental correspondences, tools, and spells in a way that’s especially supportive for newer practitioners.

A Note on Structure vs. Intuition

Structure and intuition are not opposites.

Learning how spells work gives you the freedom to:

  • modify them responsibly

  • discard what doesn’t serve

  • and innovate without losing coherence

These books are not meant to be followed blindly.
They are meant to be understood, questioned, and adapted.

That’s where real magic lives.
